My name is Ghadeer. I’m normally really shy but my love of poetry helps me overcome it. People are often surprised when I recite, they see this young reserved girl until I take the stage. I expressed my love for poetry to Al-Ayn and when I was 8 they invited me to recite a poem in front of 400 hundred people. It was so nerve wrecking at first that I forgot my line. The volunteers asked everyone to clap, I knew they were only clapping trying to encourage me but it helped nevertheless. I was able to recompose myself and recite my poem with strength and confidence. They always make sure to offer me opportunities, I feel how invested they are in helping me develop my passion.
