With the permission of Al-Sayyed Al-Sistani, Zakat Al-Fitra from the USA can be placed in Al-Ayn’s Sadaqa Boxes any time during the month of Ramadan, up to mid-day on the day of Eid (or Salatul Eid if one is praying it). Zakat Al-Fitra could also be paid on this page, whilst authorizing Al-Ayn to make the payment of Zakat Al-Fitra on your behalf.
By paying Zakat Al-Fitra on this page you are authorizing Al-Ayn to pay the Zakat on your behalf. You are also authorizing Al-Ayn to carry out the jurisprudential requirements to transfer the ownership of the amount you have paid electronically from yourself to Al-Ayn, to compensate for the amount paid on your behalf. The amount per person is $10 based on the rice price in the state of Michigan (with the intention of it being instead of 3Kg = 6.6lb of rice). If you live in a different state, and the rice price is higher than MI state price, you need to pay the estimated difference. If the price is lower, any excess of your Zakat will be considered as a Sadaqa.
Please also note that according to the ruling of Al-Sayyed Al-Sistani, it is obligatory for sponsors to pay the Zakat of the orphaned child they are sponsoring. The payment should be in proportion to the amount of the child’s sustenance which the sponsor covers. As a precaution, the sponsor may pay the full amount of the Zakat. If they have not paid in previous years, they should also pay as a precaution, with the intention (Niyya) of “Al-Qurba Al-Mutlaqa” (seeking nearness to Allah).
