Paying Religious Dues

Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation has the express, written permission of Grand Ayatollah Al-Sayed Ali Al-Hussaini Al-Sistani ( may God prolong his life) to collect religious dues to be allocated towards helping orphans. Below is an outline of all religious dues accepted by the foundation.

 

Religious Dues

Obligatory religious tax amounting to 20% of annual income surplus. This includes both Imam and Sada portions.

Zakat is incumbent farmers who grow wheat, barley, dates, and raisins above certain amounts, and by farmers who raise more than a certain number of camels, cows, sheep, and goats. In addition to those who own gold or silver that is in the form of coinage (maskook) that is greater than an allotted amount

In order to pay the 'Kaffarah' for one oath, one should feed 10 people. This value is calculated based on the cost of feeding 10 people at $1.25 each, totaling $12.50.

Kafarrah required for intentionally breaking fast during the month of Ramadan without a valid reason. An individual must feed or pay the equivalent of feeding 60 impoverished persons at $1.25 a meal for each day of fasting intentionally missed.

Fidyah is a form of Kaffarah paid by individuals who are not able to fast during the month of Ramadan due to valid reasons. The individual is required to feed or pay the equivalent of feeding 1 impoverished person for each day missed. This is calculated at $1.25 a day.
