Who We Are

The FoundationTransparencyStatisticsAuthorization

Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation is an independent 501(c) (3) humanitarian organization registered and identified as a US public charity established in 2014 under EIN: 47-1614315. Our primary aim is to tend to the millions of orphaned children and thousands of displaced families resulting from war and acts of terrorism. Al-Ayn US works in collaboration with Al-Ayn Iraq which has been awarded consultative status by the United Nations as a Humanitarian NGO.

  • Our mission is simple. Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation stands for orphaned children and helps them realize their full potential.
  • Our goal is to grant every child a feeling of belonging; to become a healthy, happy, self-sustaining person—and experience a true sense of well-being.
  • We’ve created a measurable, repeatable and systematic method to ensure that orphans are educated, fed, loved and safe.
  • Since our founding in 2006, we have acted as instruments of hope to better the lives of those we serve. Ministering primarily in Iraq, we support a variety of programs designed to offer a better chance to children living in dire conditions.
  • As of April 2020, around 62,678 orphans have been sponsored out of a total of the 113,153 registered. In addition to monthly financial allowances, orphans receive medical care, educational support, psychological rehabilitation care, recreational activities, and other programs tailored to their needs.

Your generosity strengthens our ability to provide orphans a critical lifeline during their most desperate time of need.

At Al-Ayn, we are first and foremost responsible to the children and communities with whom we work, as well as all of our supporters, sponsors, partners, and donors.

Commitment to accountability , ethical practices and adherence to strong and comprehensive standards are central to everything we do. We believe in trust, transparency, and responsibility.

We recognize our duty to use contributions as effectively and efficiently as possible and to be accountable to all our stakeholders. Our high ratings with various external monitoring groups reflect the impact our programs have as well as our good stewardship practices.

We are proud to earn ‘Gold’ status on GuideStar, the nation’s premier nonprofit database and the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations. The organization is also listed with Charity Navigator

  • 49,843 orphans supported
  • 21,569 medical cases treated
  • 777 treated mental health cases
  • 4,037 displaced families assisted
  • 6 vocational training and rehab centers currently under construction.

Al-Ayn has made progress in addressing the needs of those orphaned and displaced as a result of war. However, much more work is needed. According to a study published by MIT, there are over “4.5 million orphans in Iraq, of which approximately 600 thousand live in the street”. In addition, the number of internally displaced families, which does not include those who have fled Iraq is estimated at 1.3 million.

Since its establishment, Al-Ayn has enjoyed the support and blessings of the Supreme Religious Authority Grand Ayatollah Al-Sayyid Ali Al-Hussaini Al-Sistani (may God prolong his life). The Foundation submitted the following request to the Supreme Religious Authority:

The Submitted Letter
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

“And say: “Work (righteousness): Soon will Allah observe your work, and His Messenger, and the Believers”

To the Supreme Religious Authority Grand Ayatollah Al-Sayyid Ali Al-Hussaini Al-Sistani (may Allah prolong his life)

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatoh,

Our Grand Sayyid: Al-Ayn Foundation, whose seeds you planted and whose buds you watered, is now using its branches and leaves to shade the orphans, widows and displaced of Iraq. Day after day, it is expanding its branches and offices in Iraqi provinces and districts, hoping to offer its services to more of the deprived in our society. It continues to sponsor and care for the orphans of the volunteer martyrs, who answered your call to protect our land and honor from the filth of Daesh. It also continues to care for the families of the victims of terrorist attacks that have taken place in the areas targeted by blind terrorism, taking away fathers, brothers and sons from their families. This is in addition to caring for orphans of believers who have passed away due to natural causes.

The Foundation obtained public benefit status, which results in a reduction in tax liability, following the huge expansion in its work, number of sponsors and volunteers, and the growth of Sadaqa Jariya projects that it manages, which either provide services or produce profits for orphans. Additionally, it achieved special consultative status with the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council. Furthermore, it gained membership in Unicef, entered into significant agreements with international organizations, and obtained testimonies from various sections of society. This has placed the Foundation in line with other international organizations. It has also completed, thanks to Allah, the process of solidly and legally registering all its branches and offices outside of Iraq. This has made it easier for believers to support these offices and to provide assistance to the orphans of Iraq through them.

The number of orphans sponsored by the Foundation has increased, exceeding fifty thousand this year. The Foundation has also opened its doors to receive, provide full assistance to, and establish programs and projects for widows, the displaced, the ill and the wounded. Those in charge of these programs and projects have worked to ensure that they provide the most effective and modern services in our dear country. All of this has been based on your continuous advice and guidance.

Our Grand Sayyid: the expenses of the Foundation have consequently increased, in light of the above, and due to the Foundation’s constant efforts to improve the standard of sponsorship provided to the orphans, the needy and the displaced, to the best standard possible, and to provide them with medical (including psychological), educational, and recreational services, self-sufficiency projects, and to build and refurbish their houses. This is in addition to continuing to provide financial and in-kind assistance which it has been doing since its establishment. The increased number of orphans documented and sponsored, and the expansion of work to include the needy, displaced, ill and wounded has increased the burden on the Foundation.

Our Foundation is honored, with all its staff and volunteers in Iraq and globally, to express its gratitude and great appreciation to your eminence for your continued care for the Foundation throughout the period of its work, with your blessings and authorization to collect religious dues and to spend them on the orphans and widows of the believers. This authorization has been in place since 6 Safar 1428AH, and was extended again on 25 Safar 1430AH, then on 10 Safar 1433AH, and then again on 12 Safar 1436AH. All of this has happened under the care and supervision of his eminence Sheikh Amjad Riyadh (may Allah prolong his support).

We therefore submit this request to extend the period of authorization for this work now that the previous period has elapsed, so the believers from inside and outside of Iraq can contribute to the expenses of caring for orphans and supporting the needy and displaced and ill, through the following:

  1. Religious dues, including both Sahm Al-Imam and Sahm al-Sada.
  2. Donations collected in specified boxes which are considered received Sadaqa as per your authorization, in addition to electronic Sadaqa and all types of Sadaqa.
  3. Continual charity (Sadaqa Jariya), and the one-third of the inheritance of the deceased, and the management of charitable endowments (Waqf), all of which is used to construct buildings as Waqf under the custodianship of the supreme religious authority, and the profits of which go to the orphans.
  4. General donations and in-kind assistance such as clothes, food, household items, electrical equipment, and construction material.
  5. Zakat, Kaffaras, Rad Al-Mathalim, Majhool Al-Malik, Zakat Al-Fitra, and the share of one-third of Udhiyyas of pilgrims (Hujjaj), which are apportioned to the needy.
  6.  Supporting the work of the Foundation (purchasing donation boxes, the costs of field visits to follow-up, the rental costs of branch premises, the costs of publications, purchasing equipment needed for the work of the Foundation, and all that benefits the work of the Foundation).

All of this will assist the Foundation in working towards its mission, noting that we continue to operate under the direct supervision of his eminence Sheikh Amjad Riyadh (may Allah prolong his support), who, in line with article 15 of our constitution, was appointed and authorized by your eminence. We take all necessary procedures to ensure that all dues reach those who deserve it. We also work on managing endowments (Waqf), which have been specified to be under the custodianship of the supreme religious authority, embodied in yourself, and whose profits go to the orphans registered with the Foundation.

We also ask your eminence to continue your blessings and prayers for our work. May the peace and blessings of Allah be with you.
